DIMITAR DELEVSKI FORCED TO

FLEE SERB TYRANNY IN SKOPIE

13 November 1996:  In the well of his own house at 37 Manche Matak St, "Gjorche Petrov" quarter, Skopje, the Republic of Macedonia, was found Gerasim Delevski. The evidence shows that he was first killed and then thrown into the well.

Gerasim Delevski is a father of Dimitar Delevski, Skopje correspondent for the Bulgarian newspaper "Macedonia". Dimitar Delevski is constantly harassed by Macedonian authorities because of his Bulgarian national consciousness.

As a result on Dec 11 1992, the Macedonian Patriotic Organization in USA and Canada contacted the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Kiro Gligorov, saying:

To our attention comes facts that the human rights of those who consider themselves Bulgarians are often denied. Our fear is about Dimitar Delevski, a Macedonian correspondent of a newspaper that is published in Sofia and whom was ordered by the police not to write anymore for the Bulgarian newspaper
Dimitar Delevski himself protested before Kiro Gligorov with the need that "this attack of the police against my identity and journalistic activity should be stopped". Unfortunately his appeal was ignored. To save himself from the terror of this regime in the Republic of Macedonia, Dimitar Delevski asked for Bulgarian citizenship, which was granted to him by special decree of the Bulgarian president Dr Zhelyo Zhelev.

In Bulgaria Dimitar Delevski became a student in journalism and continued to agitate for the truth about the ethnic character of the Macedonian Slavs. Friends of the Delevski family feel that the mysterious death of Gerasim Delevski is meant to intimidate the activities of his son Dimitar Delevski.
